Radio-Canada and TFO, the two public broadcasters, join forces to organize a French-language debate before the provincial elections in Ontario

Toronto, February 7 - The francophone representatives of Ontario's main political parties will participate in a debate, broadcast on February 19th at 8:00 PM EST, organized by Radio-Canada and TFO.

 

Caroline Mulroney from the Progressive Conservatives Party of Ontario, Michelle Petersen from the Green Party of Ontario, Lucille Collard from the Liberal Party of Ontario, and France Gélinas from the New Democratic Party of Ontario will answer questions from Sandra Padovani, journalist and parliamentary correspondent for TFO, and Sébastien St-François, news anchor for Téléjournal Ontario, while debating key issues of this election campaign.

 

"This debate is an essential opportunity to highlight the realities of Francophones in Ontario and to allow our communities to hear discussions on issues that directly affect them. We are delighted to collaborate once again with Radio-Canada for this democratic event in Ontario," adds Xavier Brassard-Bédard, President and CEO of TFO.

 

Zaahirah Atchia, Regional Director of Radio-Canada in Ontario, and Yvan Cloutier, Regional Director of Radio-Canada Ottawa-Gatineau, add: "We are committed to creating a space for dialogue where Francophones and Francophiles in Ontario can recognize themselves, learn, and exchange views on the issues that concern them. The debate will be recorded in the Radio-Canada studios in Ottawa in the morning of February 19th. It will be broadcast at 8:00 PM EST on: 

  • Television: ICI Télé, TFO
  • Radio: ICI Première
  • Online: TFO.org, TFO app, Radio-Canada.ca, Radio-Canada Info app, ICI Tou.tv, and Radio-Canada OHdio

 

Radio-Canada and TFO are also partnering with CPAC, CHOQ FM 105.1 (Toronto), Unique-FM (Ottawa), CINN FM 91.1 (Hearst), CKGN (Kapuskasing), and Francopresse, who will make the debate available on their respective platforms.

 

The debate will also be available:

  • Rebroadcast on ICI RDI, (réseau de l’information de Radio-Canada) on February 19th at 11:00 PM EST
  • On demand on TFO.org, the TFO app, and ONFR.org starting February 20th.
